About Me

I'm a nature photography hobbyist. If it moves and isn't human, there's a good chance I'll take a picture of it. It's just an enjoyable activity for me though as I've never sold a photo despite clicking the shutter release button thousands of times.
I live in New York which means many of my photos comes from that area. But I also like to travel across the US and I always bring my camera with me. So far my travels have included the Grand Canyon, the Everglades, the Florida Keys, various destinations in New England, and California. It's my goal to visit as many national parks as possible.
My current camera is a Canon EOS 10D. It's a digital SLR and it is fantastic. Since purchasing it, new models from Canon have been released. Of particular interest is the Canon 5D which improves upon the 10D in many ways including a full frame sensor.
I also have two tripods. One is a Uni-Loc which I would be surprised if you've every heard of it. It is quite versatile, but very heavy. Its weight has kept me from carrying it during my hikes. I also have Slik Compact Tripod. Certainly not as sturdy as the Uni-Lok, but much more portable which means I end up using it more. I swapped out the compact ballhead that it came with for another one from Slik that could support up to 6.5 lbs.
I use a Tamrac Velocity 9600 Slinback to carry my gear while I hike. The slingback design means I can swing the bag from back to front and pull out my camera without having to take of the bag. This is great for taking shots while hiking.
I have three lenses: 75-300mm IS USM, 28-135 IS USM, and 17-40mm USM. All have served me well and make for a good set. The only thing I would do now is perhaps replace them with L lenses, but of course that would be quite an investment. For a little extra versatility, I have the Canon 500D close-up lens and a B+W polarizer.
For keeping my lenses clean, I use a lenspen. I love this thing. It does a perfect job every time. I get better results from the lenspen than I do from liquid-based cleaning solutions.
